Housing
Public and Community Housing
The Queensland Government Department of Housing provides housing assistance to people on low to moderate incomes.

Private rental accommodation
The Department of Housing also provides bond loans for those who cannot afford to pay a full rental bond to move into private rental accommodation. If you would like further information about bond loans visit the

The Queensland Residential Tenancies Authority provides a comprehensive range of information for both tenants and lessors about renting in Queensland including beginning and ending tenancies and resolving disputes. It provides information for general tenancies, moveable dwellings, student accommodation and residential services.

If you require information and assistance about tenancy matters, the Tenancy Advice and Advocacy Service Queensland (TAASQ) may be able to provide assistance.
This service can assist tenants to understand their rights and responsibilities as a tenant in negotiation with lessors and real estate agents. They can also provide information and referral to people in housing need.
There are two TAASQ services on the Gold Coast. They are:

Domestic violence
DV Connect
This is a statewide 24 hour telephone service which organises referrals to womens' refuges. There are three refuges on the Gold Coast. For further information phone 1800 811 811.
Domestic Violence Prevention Centre Inc Gold Coast
This organisation offers support, information and referrals to women and children who are in crisis as a direct result of domestic violence. They also provide information and referrals to men who are victims or perpetrators of violence, people affected by other forms of violence, as well as friends and relatives.

Victims of Crime
Relationships Australia Victims Counselling and Support Service provides free counselling and support to people affected by crime directly or indirectly. They assist with understanding the court process but do not provide court support.
